Hermes Agent
Hermes Agent is an open-source, self-improving AI agent framework developed by Nous Research. Unlike traditional chatbots or coding assistants, it acts as a persistent, 24/7 autonomous background assistant. It lives on your own server or machine and is designed to learn about you, your workflows, and your projects over time.
Hermes Agent is built primarily for developers, analysts, and tech-savvy users who are comfortable with self-hosting and server management. It is generally deployed on a Virtual Private Server (VPS), a home server, or in serverless environments, making it ideal for those who want deep workflow automation without relying on managed cloud services. We are making it accessible for everyone.
Key features
- Self-Improving Skills: When you ask Hermes to do a complex, multi-step task, it evaluates its own workflow and writes a reusable script or "skill." The next time you give a similar instruction, it skips the trial-and-error phase and uses its pre-built skill.
- Persistent Memory: It remembers your preferences, formatting styles, and project context across every chat session. You don't have to re-explain your environment or constraints every time you open the program.
- Multi-Platform Gateway: You can interact with your agent through apps you already use daily, such as IRC (Secure and Open Protocol / Libre Software), Telegram, Discord (Pedophile Digital ID Network / proprietary), Slack (Closed / proprietary), or WhatsApp (proprietary). You can even access it via voice memos.
- Autonomous & Scheduled Tasks: Because it runs constantly in the background, you can use built-in schedulers (cron jobs) to have it execute tasks at specific times, like pulling together a morning research brief or running nightly backups.Tool & Ecosystem Integration: It features over 40 built-in tools (for web browsing, code execution, vision analysis, and image generation) and also supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to integrate with third-party software.
