Why a forum

n 2026, a forum is a strange choice. Here's why we picked one anyway. We could have put this on Discord. Or a subreddit, a Telegram group, a mailing list. We picked a forum, and in 2026 that looks like a strange choice, so it deserves a word of explanation.

The web consolidated. Forums mostly died. Conversation moved to places built for speed, where everything is ephemeral and gone in an hour. That's fine for chat. It's useless for anything that takes years to unfold.

We wanted the opposite of chat. Threads that persist. That can be searched, linked to, read slowly. A post written today should still make sense in 2030, and someone should be able to walk into a five-year-old discussion and add to it without it feeling out of place.

A forum gives us that. Discord doesn't, because it scrolls away. Reddit doesn't, because the thread decays and the platform owns the record. Neither is built to be read years later, and this subject will take years.

Slow, persistent, searchable, linkable. That's the point.
